Their is a story about the letters NFA but that is for another camp fire story, some may guess what the letters stand for some may not. All I can say is that when certain people were told of the explanation they did not join. Not everyone who joined the gym was told of the meaning when they asked we told them. Those three letters made for a good atmosphere and environment for even the smallest and weakest to train without fear.
Our First piece of equipment for The Gym Powerhouse, August 1988.
A multi purpose unit, served us well for a year or two, till some big fella (Tai) bent it squatting. We grew out of that unit and it has been retired many years ago. It will hang in the entrance way of the New Powerhouse.
Conditions were harsh, freezing in the winter blazing hot in the summer, equipment was cramped. When it rained it was wetter inside than out, low cost construction. These photos were done about 1996, just before our dumb bells arrived from the states.
An odd array of different coloured pieces of equipment.
